Bat and Bar Mitzvah

According to Jewish law, before children reach a certain age, the parents are responsible for their child's actions. Once Jewish children reach that age, they are said to “become” a bar or bat mitzvah, at which point they begin to be held accountable for their own actions.

Girls come of age at 12, and boys come of age at 13, according to their Hebrew birth date.

Melbourne Hebrew Congregation offers a program in the year of the happy occasion, preparing the child for their milestone day alongside other children about to celebrate their milestone occasion. Together they will learn what it means to be part of their local community, part of the global community, and part of the Jewish community.

This is an exciting time in your child's life and should be celebrated in style - and Melbourne Hebrew Congregation is the perfect location for this momentous event.
